An ecologist from the Zakhidnadraservice Group defended her PhD thesis


Maria Lopushanska, an ecologist at the Zakhidnadraservice Group, successfully defended the results of her dissertation research and was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in specialty 103 "Earth Sciences".

Maria Lopushanska is the first scientist in Ukraine majoring in 103 "Earth Sciences" to study the state and impact of renewable energy on the environment and defend her dissertation in this specialty.

The main scientific significance of the dissertation is the development of the author's methodology for assessing environmental impacts for renewable energy facilities at all stages of the project life cycle, as well as the proposed classification of environmental components (factors) at all stages of the project life cycle.

Despite these achievements, the paper also classifies geospatial (territorial) factors and determines their significance for the development of renewable energy sources in Lviv region; reveals the prospects for the development of "green" hydrogen energy in Lviv region.

Background: On May 21, 2025, at a meeting of the one-time specialized academic council DF 35.051.227 at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, a postgraduate student (PhD) of the Department of Constructive Geography and Cartography Maria Lopushanska successfully defended her dissertation on the topic: “Renewable energy in Lviv region: state and environmental impact” for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the specialty 103 “Earth Sciences”.

Doctoral advisor is Yevhen Ivanov, Doctor of Geography, Professor, Head of the Department of Constructive Geography and Cartography at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
